The Spyder II direct-to-screen (DTS) printer provides the ultimate in quality, while simplifying the process of creating screen masks. This high-resolution device can image screens at over two square foot per minute for extremely fast throughput. Perfect for any screen printer looking to eliminate film or vellum, reduce labor costs, speed up job turnaround time or improve print quality. The Spyder II computer-to-screen (CTS) printer uses a phase change inkjet head combined with a high-density thermal wax ink to apply artwork directly to a coated screen. This eliminates the film mask normally used, streamlining the entire screen preparation process. Imaging at over two square feet per minute, the Spyder II will keep up with the busiest screening rooms.
No vacuum is required for the exposure plus the wax ink is water soluble allowing for easy wash-out. The image is digitally placed with excellent accuracy. This system also eliminates human errors that can occur with manual placement of film separations on multiple screens. This also means less setup up time and more jobs run per day.
The new touch screen interface allows the user to easily drag and drop files into the control panel for easy printing and job re-ordering. Enhanced preview and templates make positioning your job on screen a breeze. Now you can rotate, mirror print, auto center and more, right from the Spyder II control panel. You can also assign unique templates to individual hot folders, creating a streamlined workflow.
The system can print up to 1200 dpi, allowing halftone frequencies of up to 110 lpi (lines per inch) and can output around 300 screens in 8 hours. The Spyder II 30 supports standard frames up to 30” x 40” while the larger Sypder II 52 supports frame sizes up to 54” x 46". A full-featured RTI Harlequin RIP-Kit is included to provide extremely fast and reliable file output. The Spyder II will also accept 1-bit tiff files from any RIP or workflow so it will easily fit into an existing prepress workflow.

These wax blocks are compatible with the Spyder I and Spyder II Direct to Screen systems. With the Spyder II direct to screen system most tshirt printers can expect to output around 135 screens with one block of wax. Each block of wax costs $42.50 and weighs apploximately 100 grams. The wax blocks are sold in quantities of 10.
