Harlequin RIP Features

Harlequin Precision Screening
Every RTI Harlequin RIP includes Harlequin Precision Screening (HPS). When placing color separations on top of one another the RIP precisely calculates screen angles and frequencies to avoid moiré patterns. HPS also uses an adaptive screening technique that adjusts each halftone dot so that it is placed within one half pixel of its ideal location. The RIP allows users to control and manage resolutions (dots per inch or dpi), line screens/frequency (lines per inch or lpi), screen angles, dot shapes, scaling, crop marks, mirror image, negative/positive, rotation and much more. Our screening technology is also designed to work with a wide range of printing processes including Flexography, Offset Lithography, Screen Printing, Gravure, Engraving and Digital Printing.
Screening Information and Sample Dot Shapes

Native PDF, PostScript & XPS
Support for PDF v.1.0 through v.1.7, PDF/X formats, JPEG2000, ISO 32000-1, optional content, cross-reference streams, compressed object streams and 16-bit images. PostScript® Level 3 support also gives users full compatibility with the latest design and printing applications including XPS documents with PrintTickets.
PDF, Postscript and XPS Information

Color Accuracy with Pantone Plus
The Harlequin RIP will ensure optimum use of the output device's color gamut. Pantone Plus support also ensures that emulation of Pantone colors printed using other inks (e.g. CMYK) are as accurate as possible. It is now even easier to achieve consistent, predictable and repeatable color reproduction across any number of devices through tight integration of the RIP with third party closed loop color controls.

Variable Data
Need the fastest performance possible for your variable data print jobs? Harlequin VariData greatly accelerates the printing of variable data jobs that were saved either as PDF/VT or as regular PDF. It is one of the unique features of the Harlequin print engine that gives it amazing power and productivity.
Variable Data Information

Electronic PDF Proofing
Output electronic proofs that accurately represent the final print. The PDF Raster Output feature can be configured to output composite halftone, composite contone or separations.
PDF Proof Information

Hyperthreading & 64-bit Speed
The RTI Harlequin RIP now takes advantage of hyperthreading, multi-core and multiple CPU architectures for faster processing. The 64-bit architecture increases performance by allowing access to more RAM so that even the most complex jobs, rendered at the highest resolutions, can run at full speed.

Built-in Calibration Manager
Calibrate your output devices using the built-in calibration manager. The RIP also includes Genlin which can be used with a supported spectrophotometer to read target data.
Calibration Manager Information

Harlequin Spot Color Editor
Easily control and edit color output for exact matching of Pantone Spot Colors.
Harlequin Spot Color Editor Information

Minimum Dot Control
Users now have the ability to specify a minimum dot which eliminates the harsh edges often seen in highlight areas. This feature will give you great looking highlight areas and allow you to print highlights and perfectly smooth vignettes from 0 through 100%.
Minimum Dot Control Information

Control Strip Verification
When enabled the control strip feature will verify that proofs and prints made from files transmitted as PDF/X have rendered correctly.
Control Strip Information

Direct Printer & Spoolfolder Configurations
Users can quickly create shared printers or spoolfolders within the RIP which can then be accessed from other Windows or Macintosh systems on the network. The RIP software also includes the latest RTI universal printer description.
Printer & Spoolfolder Information

Advanced Media Saving
This feature can be used to automatically gang or nest smaller jobs together saving you money on consumables.
Media Saving Information

TIFF Output Capability
This feature gives users the ability to output 1-bit or 8-bit TIFF files which can be used to drive a variety of output devices including but not limited to digital presses, platesetters, TIFF catchers, proofers or direct to screen machines.

Built-in Preflight Profiles
The Halrequin RIP's built-in preflight profiles are based on the Enfocus PitStop library. This feature helps ensure the quality and consistency of the final product by streamlining operations and certifying PDF files before they are output.
Preflight Information

Built-in Preview
Save material and consumables with the built-in preview feature. Users have the ability to preview individual separations or preview in full composite color before releasing jobs to their output devices.
Preview Information

Extended Font Support
Extended font support includes PostScript Type 0 (composite), Type 1, Type 3,Type 4 and fonts, as well as native processing of Type 32 and Type 42 True Type fonts. Ever had a rush job that was missing fonts? The RIP also includes a feature that when enabled will make a typographically acceptable match to missing fonts with no text overflow.
Font Information

Simple Page Positioning
Provides an easy method to position jobs on almost any output device.
Simple Page Positioning Information

Simple User Interface with Enhanced Output Controller
The Harlequin RIP was designed with the end user in mind. The main RIP monitor window gives users access to pertinent job information while the newly redesigned output controller window allows users to manage jobs and control output.
User Interface Information

Wide Range of Options
Increase productivity and enhance quality by customizing your RIP with a variety of options including Trapping, Stochastic Screening, Hybrid Screening and more.
RIP Option Information

Stochastic Yellow (requires HDS option)
Users with the HDS Stochastic Screening option can now choose to output using a newly developed Stochastic Yellow feature. This feature allows users to output Cyan, Magenta, Black and any spot colors using Harlequin's conventional AM screen sets while applying a stochastic screen to the Yellow.
HDS Option Information
